Banks in the US have to keep records of wire transfer for 5 years according to regulations. Many banks may have wire transfer records going back 20 to 30 years but they will likely be on microfilm requiring significant research by bank personnel. They likely would need the account names, account numbers, approximate amount of transfer, and approximate date to search, which could take some time and for which there may be a fee. Records older than 5 years can be difficult or impossible to locate if the bank doing the transfer was merged or acquired by another bank since many old records are purged in those cases.
