Check with your insurance company or agent. My understanding is that your insurance will cover you in Canada if you drive your own car there, I would assume it's the same for a rental car. Many credit cards offer CDW or something similar, it's best to read the fine print for that. I use a credit card that will cover damages to a rental car so I decline CDW when I rent, even overseas.
