Personal Investments • Should I Sell Wellesley Income?

Whether you sell or not ... if I decide a holding no longer fits in my portfolio I sell it all. It either fits or it doesn't.
That is fair but how does OP decide whether it fits? The only reason they have given for changing is recent performance. Good investments go up and down. In investing it is also important to stay the course so you do not get caught in the trap of selling low and buying high.

That being said, if they sell Wellesley but maintain their overall allocation, they will end up buying mostly bonds which have also gone down in recent years. If it makes them feel better to sell their Wellesley position for a different investment grade bond fund it's probably not going to hurt them.

By the way, per Morningstar after a poor year -9% in 2022, VWIAX is up 2.49 this year, 7.10 in 2023. It was +8.54 and 8.57 through the pandemic. I'd say it has done its job during the period OP has been invested. It would have been nicer if the bad year didn't coincide with the bear market in stocks, but that happened to all bonds, even TIPS.
