Personal Finance (Not Investing) • When to upgrade the house?

This sounds like something years away, why worry about it now? Why not just wait and see until you actually feel the need or desire to upgrade, if ever? This can be said about a lot of things kid related btw. I too live in a HCOL area (though maybe it's VHCOLA based on your classification). The 4 of us (2 small kids) and dog live very comfortably in our 3bd/2ba 1800sf house, but my commute is 30min. A 1500sf house closer to work would be wonderful but is out of our budget. Many families live in homes this size. Not that you can't afford something bigger, nicer, etc. but just wait and see.
