Personal Finance (Not Investing) • An unintended visit from "Aunt IRMAA"?

I don’t think I transcribed the finance buff incorrectly…<snip>

This is part of my problem, I was planning for 0% inflation numbers knowing it was likely the 3% numbers would save me if I made a mistake…but with the Finance buff January 11 update the 3% numbers went down to where the 0% numbers were …. I lost my margin of error :?
It's the rounding. The MFJ number moves in $2,000 increments since it's double the Single number which is rounded to the nearest $1,000. I track this on a spreadsheet and when I use the 0% and 3% inflation assumption, the unrounded numbers are $209,319 for 0% and $210,897 for 3%, both of which round to $210,000 as the nearest $2,000. Yesterday's December CPI release moved the 3% assumption from $212,000 to $210,000 (it also lowered the 0% unrounded number but it still rounded to $210,000).
Thanks for that explanation, makes sense now.
Is it correct that any inflation slightly above 3% that causes the number to rise $104 to $211,001 will cause rounding to $212,000, fixing OP's problem?
