After new 48 kw Generac Whole House Generator power system installation. ($ 50,000 dollars!!!) Yikes!!

A 48 kW generator is absolutely massive. My 5000 sq. ft. house can run almost everything on a 20kW.

Are you sure you're sized correctly?


I cheated the system when I installed mine 5 years ago. I bought a honeywell (generac rebrand) at costco for $3200 and then hired out to an electrical / plumbing outfit for $2800 fully installed.


We pay $200 annually to have it serviced, which means oil changed and battery tested etc...


My wife wanted one and I was very apprehensive and thought the benefit was dubious. One two hour outage convinced me it was the right choice.
