Managers get hired and paid to do whatever the owners who hire them tell them to do. They get a fixed salary, and a bonus based on whatever goals the owners have. They're generally sworn to "maximize shareholder value". In the case of Fidelity, that's the Johnson family. In the case of Vanguard, it's Vanguard customer-owners.
How much does Gerry O'Reilly make, and what is his bonus structure?
Not that I don't think more transparency would be bad, but does the fact that an investor can likely look up Abigail Johnson's salary have a significant impact on whether or not to purchase a Fidelity fund?
"Managers get hired and paid to do whatever the owners who hire them tell them to do... In the case of Vanguard, it's Vanguard customer-owners."

Can you even tell me how much you are paying the managers, not to mention what you have "[told] them to do"?
That's not my statement you just quoted.
I know, that's the context of my previous comment. I don't know why Abigail Johnson's salary is relevant.
