They get a fixed salary, and a bonus based on whatever goals the owners have. They're generally sworn to "maximize shareholder value". In the case of Fidelity, that's the Johnson family. In the case of Vanguard, it's Vanguard customer-owners.
Can you even tell me how much you are paying the managers, not to mention what you have "[told] them to do"?
