That would make total sense and you are probably right, but on their website linked below under "minimum investment" they list N/A. Perhaps this is a typo?I'm afraid you are mistaken. VWIUX has a minimum investment of $50,000 (this is the generally the minimum for Admiral shares on all Vanguard's active funds, which Vanguard Intermediate-Term Tax-Exempt Fund is). Hence there is a reason for the Investor share class with the $3000 minimum.Also for anyone following this thread, VWIUX is the admiral shares version of VWITX (investor shares) I mentioned in the first post and has a lower expense ratio so is a better choice (not clear why the investor shares exist since the admiral shares have no minimum investment and the investor shares have a minimum of 3k).
However, there is an intermediate term tax-exempt index fund (VTEI) and overall tax-exempt bond fund (VTEB) available as ETF's.
