I agree. They might not offer you a great price but if you are ok with taking a low price then it will be easy to do, but you may need to call several dealerships. In the time you've been thinking about what to do you could have called a couple of dealers and probably had the car gone and a check in your hand by now.I am not trying to make money here. I want it gone ASAPThat's a bad idea for old cars and horrible idea for a near new one because at best if you deduct the entire amount you will get a best around 40% of the value back in taxes.I'm probably going to call AAA and have them replace the battery. Then possibly tow it to a mechanic to do maintenance on the fluids and check the tires and drain / replace the gas. I really don't like car dealers so my preference would be to donate the car to charity.
In my prior post I suggested,
The Corolla is likely worth in the ballpark of $20K (+/-) if you sold it yourself once it is running again so don't just dispose of it.
One thing you should use is to check the carmax and carvana website to get a quote for what they would pay for it if was running. That only take about five minutes. Those are not the best price you could sell it for but if they will pay you $17K(????) if it was running and perfect then you would know that selling it for $10K would be way too low.
