Thank you. That's interesting. I don't use cabs in London (except pre-booked minicabs for airport runs etc). And I haven't been in an unfamiliar North American city where I would need a cab for a long time. My mental image of New York City, say, is lane after lane of yellow taxis.What cities still have cab drivers at this point?But cab drivers in a number of cities can be terrifying.
My 2 cents: If you're going car-free, even if plans A-C are walking, public transportation, and delivery, it's absolutely necessary IMO to have a passing familiarity with Uber/Lyft as Plan D, with an account established and payment info saved. More than once my folks have visited large cities expecting to use cabs as they once did, and then faced the prospect of walking late at night or trying to reach a cab company by phone when, much to their surprise, there were no cabs on the street.
So that's a change in things that I have not well tracked.
