Investing - Theory, News & General • What is the Expected Future of Stock?

The hypothesis makes no sense.
Let’s say nobody “wanted” to buy Apple stock but Apple as a company still makes massive and growing profits. Nobody buys the stock and everybody sells till the price is down 90%. The company continues to make more and more money. The dividend would grow very large.

With stocks its total return that matters. If the stock is valued too low then the dividend will be high, and it will balance out.
Lots of stocks don't pay any dividend.

Berkshire Hathaway, Amazon, and Tesla pay no dividends.
But the profits would go somewhere. Buybacks if they don’t do dividends. I’m sure all those companies would love to buy their own stock at a huge discount if they were remaining hugely profitable.
