This thread started in 2021. It is now 2024 and your dad’s new diagnoses that I thought was terminal because of the new posting isntn terminal but treatable. You’ve been obsessing over this and you have no control. It’s your dad’s money to disperse. He could change his mind or not. She could decide she doesn’t want to live there alone. If she does stay there the house just might deteriorate. Too many ifs to obsess over Deal with it when you know the ifs and only when you have to

One person's obsession is another person's long game to avoid being his father's wife's landlord. I have already made progress by getting him to acknowledge that's not a very nice position to put me in and to ask his estate attorney for advice on finding third-party management of the property paid for by the trust with me still as executor. That's huge progress frankly. You'll also notice that while this post was started in 2021, there's been long periods of inactivity. So hardly obsessing.

As for dealing it when I have to, that's one plan. Or I can keep working to extricate myself from having to deal with it at all.
