Thank you for your post @Raspberry-503.
I have briefly looked into bonds/ladders and can understand the stability of these assets. What I am having a hard time grappling with is that if someone has a runway of 2-3 years of cashflows in a downturn market, how will the bond strategy make sense (given the compounding historical numbers of bond funds)? Those cashflows can be invested in many liquidating low-yield funds/ETFs to ride out the downturn if the majority of the investments are in equities (trying to understand the "why" behind this).
Once again, thank you for your guidance and support.
Will do.You should check your SS numbers. I don't think your wife gets 1/2 your SS until she is at FRA (67), it will be reduced if she claims at 62
I will look into how this can be performed and eventually distributed in a 3-fund portfolio.would roll all the previous job 401(k) into a rollover IRA
Not sure if I understand this completely. Brokerage has two accounts where taxes only need to be paid on gains. So why mix them with a rollover IRA? Details of how to consolidate this would be helpful.Same with the brokerages, why not consolidate?
