hello all
i have been advised to have 10% of my portfolio in alternative investments. i am currently 90/10 in equity/bonds. my investment advisor suggested 80/10/10. I always invest in index funds. any recommendations for index funds that invest in alternative investments? would you invest in alternatives in a taxable or roth or pre-tax retirement account?

thanks in advance
I think it was Larry Swedroe who said to keep some of your portfolio in cash which could be used whenever there is a market crash to buy equities, if so then an 80/10/10 allocation is okay.
