Personal Investments • Stopping 401k Contributions for Bonus

Losing out on the match for a time period where you were contributing 0% is not a problem for most 401K plans, since they have a “true-up” match that goes in early in the following year. It makes up for any pay periods where you put in 0 but across the full year put in enough to get the full match. Are you sure your plan doesn’t have a true-up provision?
Are you sure you are using “most” correctly? I have been in three plans in my career and none have had a true-up. Fortunately, the one I have now just keeps matching after I max it out as long as I don’t touch the contribution amount in the system.
