For about a month or more I've been getting emails that show in the unopened "From" header in Gmail with the spoofed name of a long time friend of DW. I never get mail directly from her.

I've not opened any of these. Gmail has routed all of them to Spam automatically.
Each has a variation Subject "Re Photos", "Re Photos (2019)", "re Photos (6), and similar.
They started at least a month or more ago. I get 1 or several a week, certainly more than 10 since it started.

Of course when I roll over the Sender's name, it shows an email address that's not DW's friend, but some other name.
The interesting part is that some of the early ones were from a Singapore Uni address. Today's was from a Ecuador resort email address.

Surprisingly DW has gotten none of these even though she's emailed back and forth with the friend for many years.

i'm assuming the scam is to get me to open the mail click on a photo or link, and ...

Or is it a variation of the fake Captcha sites that either steal your clipboard information of install malware when you want to open an attachment.
