I note they state:

Note: The iOS app will still be available to download on M1/M2 powered Apple Mac devices.

So I guess some of us will still be able to have a backup.

I didn't realize Macs can use IOS apps now.

Only those Macs with Apple Silicon and I am not sure if it's every app.

In any case, I was able to get the iOS app up and running but it was a weird process since I didn't have the backup key for my desktop. I had to turn backup off on the desktop, reset the backup key on my phone and then reset it again in the iOS app running on the Mac. Then all the 2FA tokens were unlocked. I call it weird because I had already set the backup on my phone and iOS app on the Mac and the desktop version wouldn't let me reset. It complained I had no internet connection.

Anyway ...
