I am so sorry that your spouse has died.

I'm concerned that your spouse was ready/eligible for hospice and no one on his regular medical care team had mentioned it to you. We are not supposed to discuss medical problems on the forum, but this seems to be a financial problem, since Medicare covered hospice in full for you, and you were ready to begin paying out of pocket for expensive in-home care. I'm so glad that you were directed to hospice and that you were able to preserve savings for your own end of life care.

Perhaps others on the forum have a better understanding about who we can trust to inform us if/when a loved one could be receiving more comprehensive and more cost-effective care in hospice.
