Personal Investments • So Why Not 100% Equities

Thanks again for all the replies. My total investments in cash and equities is 600K, just for clarification. I do agree that investing in things like SCHG is investing in something that has gone up over the years, unlike the lower performing international funds, and past performance is not indicative of future results. I've done a poor job of planning for long term care, so those are good points made previously in this forum. The individual stocks that I mentioned are long term holdings BRK.B, COST, PLTR, and SPOT. I agree that chasing stocks like these (buying and selling often) hasn't worked at all...not a market timer. My thought was to hold these for the long term and watch them grow over a long period of time. Knowing that a market crash of 100% equities, will mean a larger decrease in my portfolio, than if I had 30 or 40 percent in bonds, is something I will live with. Also, it is a gamble that we can outlive a 50% market decline with several years to recover, but it seems that trying to grow a nest egg is a viable alternative. Is this wrong?
